Was I Sexually Assaulted Quiz

Please note: If you have recently experienced a traumatic sexual experience, this quiz and the following information could be triggering.

Trying to understand what happened to you can be a traumatizing experience in itself. This quiz  is here to help you understand the experience or incident and navigate different options available to you.

While the definition of sexual assault can vary, within this quiz, we are talking about unwanted sexual intercourse — also known as rape.

Rape is unwanted and unlawful sexual intercourse or penetration of someone's body by a body part or object. It can happen to all ages, genders, and all sexual orientations and this quiz is designed to be taken by anyone.

While this "was I sexually assaulted quiz" focuses on rape, sexual assault includes other types of unwanted physical sexual contact.

Sexual assault can also include:

  • Attempted rape
  • Sexual harassment
  • Fondling
  • Unwanted touching - either over or under clothes
  • Incest
  • Child sexual abuse
  • Molestation
  • Unwanted oral sex
  • Flashing
  • Forced posing for sexual pictures
  • Forced performance for sexual video

All of these experiences are traumatic and there are resources available to anyone who experiences these other forms of sexual assault, including calling, live chatting, or texting the sexual assault hotline RAINN or VictimConnect.

If this was a recent incident, you may want to tell someone you trust (which can be helpful if you choose to report at a later day as they can become an informant), having a sexual assault forensic exam performed (we have a piece "What is a Rape KIt?" that helps inform you of this process), and/or seek medical attention outside of a forensic exam for STI and pregnancy prevention.

If this happened in the past, you are still deserving of seeking help and healing. Talking to someone such as a trusted friend or therapist can help. Bloom by Chayn is a free program that offers courses and activities with tailored information, tools, and affirming words to help individuals cope with sexual trauma.
